There are few things that you realize instantly may have not been the wisest choice for instance spending $20 on the Taco Bell dollar menu after of late night of beverages. However, this helmet turned out to be one of the smartest decisions I’ve made as far as my moto gear goes. Before I used to buy helmets based on appearance alone and not necessarily fit, many of us fall into that trap. This helmet though fit like nothing I had ever put on my head before. Next thing I knew I was looking for a credit card that would give me the most points for the purchase! The comfort of the Arai XD4 is second to none for my head shape the quality of the Helmet construction is on par with everyone else if not setting the bar and the graphics and paint are high-quality. There are times where I find the chin bar is a little close to my mouth and it makes it difficult to get a sip of water from underneath usually I will end up pulling the helmet slightly down and going in through the visor area. Many people previously had commented about how loud these helmets are but yet I find that that comes more from the wrong windscreen height rather than the helmet construction itself. This helmet is not one of the newer style that we would call modular where the chin bar lifts up there for offering greater protection in case of a front impact. Another benefit that I really liked is that the crown and Cheek pads are available in different sizes allowing you to customize the fit even further which makes the helmet that much more comfortable when compared to some of the other flag ship models out there. Some people are not convinced by the shape of the helmet but there is engineering behind that and it is designed to deflect when hitting a surface that is what gives this helmet its unique shape. So if I had to spend the money all over again the answer is a resounding yes, this is one of the best helmets I have ever ridden in and I say that after multiple 300 and 400 mile days!
